Chicago metro is one of the most hospital-dense regions in the country, and that holds true for most of the 55+ communities in this market — Northwestern Medicine, Advocate Health, Endeavor Health (the 2023 rebrand of NorthShore–Edward-Elmhurst Health), Ascension Illinois, and UChicago Medicine AdventHealth all operate full-service hospitals within the eight counties covered here: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, Lake, McHenry, Kendall, and DeKalb. But “the metro is well-served” is a market-level statement, not a community-level one. The county you buy in determines which system you'll actually use, and coverage is not perfectly even — Kendall County, the fastest-growing corridor in this list, does not yet have its own full-service hospital.

Every other county in this market has at least one full-service hospital system anchored inside it or immediately adjacent. Kendall County — home to Steeplechase at Churchill Club and River Run Club, both in Oswego — is the exception worth calling out plainly. It is the fastest-growing county in the collar-county ring, but as of this writing it does not have its own full-service hospital; residents rely on Rush Copley Medical Center in neighboring Aurora (itself split across Kane, DuPage, Will, and Kendall counties) or other nearby facilities. This is not a reason to avoid Kendall County communities, but it is a reason to have the conversation with your own physician about network coverage and to confirm actual drive times before assuming proximity.
