Yavapai Regional Medical Center runs two full acute-care hospital campuses in the immediate area — West Campus in Prescott and East Campus in Prescott Valley — with emergency departments, surgery, cardiology, and imaging on-site. Routine and most urgent care doesn’t require a Phoenix trip at all.

There are two campuses roughly ten miles apart, positioned specifically to cover both Prescott proper and Prescott Valley without a long drive. For the general 55+ population, the primary system is Yavapai Regional Medical Center (part of Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health), a civilian hospital network with no veteran-status requirement, plus independent physician practices, urgent care clinics, and imaging centers throughout Prescott and Prescott Valley.

This is the honest tradeoff, and it’s real: Prescott is not a tertiary care hub. For complex specialty care — transplant programs, certain cancer protocols, advanced cardiac interventions — residents are typically referred to Phoenix-area systems, including Mayo Clinic Phoenix, Banner, and HonorHealth. That’s roughly a 90-minute-plus drive depending on traffic and route, and buyers should plan around that distance rather than assume it away.

Treat the drive time as approximate; it depends heavily on which part of Phoenix and time of day.
