Buying Into a Community Still Under Construction

Lago Vista is being built out in phases, which means the social infrastructure that makes a 55+ community valuable — active neighbors, established clubs, a functioning social calendar — is still developing. Early buyers get more lot selection and potentially better pricing, but they also move into a community where half the homes may still be under construction for 2–3 years. Morning walks past active job sites, construction traffic, and an amenity center that opened after you moved in are all real early-buyer experiences.

Buyers who prioritize lot selection and newness typically prefer early phase buying. Buyers who want to move into a functioning, socially active community should wait until build-out is 70–80% complete, or buy into an established resale community instead.

Lockport Location

Lockport sits at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 53 in northeastern Will County, approximately 30 miles southwest of Chicago. The Illinois and Michigan Canal and the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal run through Lockport — the historic locks and associated trail system are a regional recreation asset with paved trail access toward Joliet and the broader Des Plaines River Trail network. For buyers who walk or bike outdoors regularly, the trail infrastructure here is more developed than in most southwest suburb communities.

Joliet is 15 minutes south for hospital-level medical care and major retail. Interstate 355 is accessible for travel to DuPage County or north to O'Hare.
